Academy Animal Hospital: a veterinary clinic in Solana Beach since 1999

Academy Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic located in Solana Beach, California, serving the area's animal community since 1999. According to its own presentation, it has accumulated more than 175 five-star reviews and over 25 years of service. The team is made up of doctors with more than twenty years of experience each in the veterinary field.

The clinic describes itself as a Fear Free certified practice, an approach aimed at reducing pets' stress during visits. Its scope of care covers dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, and small mammals, and includes same-day urgent care during business hours.

General veterinary services

The clinical offering is organized into three blocks. The first, general services, comprises twelve services: dental care, spaying and neutering, preventive and wellness medicine, vaccinations, care for illnesses and injuries, parasite prevention, deworming, allergies and dermatology, microchipping, and pet surgery.

Specialties and additional services

The specialties section brings together five services: urgent care, emergency care, exotic pet care, advanced surgery, and laser therapy. As an additional service, the clinic has a pharmacy.

How appointments work

Care is provided by appointment, Monday through Saturday. The clinic states that it does its best to accommodate walk-ins, though it recommends calling in advance to reduce wait time. Upon arrival, a nurse performs a preliminary check, and the team keeps the client informed about their pet's status throughout the visit.

Clinical criteria and payment options

The clinic emphasizes that a diagnosis can only be made after a thorough physical exam and that it cannot prescribe medication without first examining the animal. It recommends annual wellness exams to establish a baseline for the pet's health, detect early signs of disease, and keep vaccinations and parasite prevention up to date. As for payment, it accepts cash, major credit and debit cards, as well as financing options such as Care Credit.

Promotion for new clients

The site reviewed offered a free first exam for new clients, subject to the terms of service published by the clinic.
