Aging and Disability Services for Seattle and King County

Area Agency on Aging coordinating information, caregiver services, meal sites, transportation, case management, legal guidance, and adult protection in King County. Community Living Connections is the main access point.

About Aging and Disability Services for Seattle and King County

Seattle and King County organize aging support as a regional network rather than a single municipal walk-in office. Aging and Disability Services (ADS), part of the Seattle Human Services Department and designated Area Agency on Aging for all of King County, coordinates public and community-provider services for older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. For a specific need, the usual first call is Community Living Connections (CLC) at 844-348-5464.

The network includes caregiver support, case coordination, abuse prevention, adult day services, legal help, transportation, senior centers, nutrition, and health programs. CLC staff help callers identify options and connect them with an in-home care assessment, congregate or delivered meals, or help navigating benefits. Partner agencies administer many programs; ask who screens, who provides the service, and who bills so a referral is not mistaken for approval.

The official contact page distinguishes three communication points: CLC, ADS’s main Seattle phone at (206) 233-5121, and its South King County line at (206) 615-1855. The page gives PO Box 34215 as a mailing address, but does not identify that box as a visitor office. This profile therefore does not add a map route to a mailing address: call first and ask for the appropriate site if an appointment or in-person assessment is needed.

For nutrition, ADS says more than 50 community meal sites across King County are managed by 13 agencies and serve communities with different cultures and languages; home delivery is also available. Seattle has several partner sites, but addresses, schedules, and meal formats vary. Sound Generations maintains a dining-site directory, while Kin On lists care and rehabilitation services at several locations. Before traveling, confirm that the site is active, whether registration is needed, and which program serves the older adult’s address.

For a useful call, have the ZIP code, age, disability or functional limitation, preferred language, insurance, ability to leave home, and caregiver information ready. If the issue concerns a residential care facility, ask for the ombudsman contact; for suspected current abuse, the agency directs people to law enforcement and the state protection line. Call 911 for an immediate emergency; CLC and ADS do not replace emergency medical response.

ADS also connects residents with legal services, LGBTQ+ aging cultural-competency support, transportation, and evidence-based wellness programs. Access may depend on age, address, income, assessment, contracts, or available capacity. A useful first call ends with the program name, the provider taking the case, the required documents, expected response time, and a direct number for follow-up.
