Wood Technology Center

The Wood Technology Center is at 2310 S Lane Street, south of downtown Seattle. It is a focused teaching site for students who want to work with materials, tools and production processes rather than study the subject only in a lecture room. Seattle Central’s program pages describe architectural millwork, fine furniture, residential construction, and boatbuilding and repair.

Courses use workshops, computer labs, classrooms and collaboration space. The center’s tours page gives prospective students a way to learn about the setting and programs; current schedules identify when and where classes meet. Ask about the sequence of shop courses, safety equipment, prerequisites and the credential each pathway awards, since the time to completion depends on program structure and course availability.

The address is in the South Lane Street corridor, separate from the main Seattle Central campus. Transit and parking guidance is managed through the college, and parking rules vary by site; confirm current options before driving or attending a tour. For applicants comparing technical education, the important question is not simply which college offers a program but whether the hands-on instruction takes place at this center.

Public comments from people discussing carpentry and boatbuilding describe a close learning community and appreciation for the instructors and peers. That impression fits a center built around workshop practice, though individual experiences can differ. A visit or direct conversation with the department can help applicants judge the facilities, tools and daily rhythm before choosing a pathway.
