Community Foundation of Sarasota County Scholarships
Community Foundation of Sarasota County pools donor-funded scholarships for high-school students, college students, and adults returning to education. Its regular young-student cycle serves applicants age 24 or younger who live in or graduated from a school in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, or DeSoto County. The foundation also publishes a separate route for students age 24 and older, with its own criteria; do not confuse the two categories in the portal.

In the 2025–26 cycle, the shared application opened December 15, 2025, and closed February 1, 2026. That window has passed, and the page does not yet display the next one. The previous process allowed one application to be considered for multiple funds and covered accredited universities, community colleges, technical schools, and certificate programs. Confirm the next cycle with the foundation rather than relying on an old calendar.
The funds are not limited to four-year degrees. The adult FAQ says community college, technical or vocational training, and some accredited career courses may qualify when applicants meet local residency, age, and enrollment rules. Other awards may have separate limits, records, or school requirements. Read each fund description and gather proof of residence and graduation before starting the form.
The foundation reports approximately $2 million in scholarships annually, a program-wide figure that does not predict an individual award. Selection is competitive, and some opportunities may renew. If you receive other aid, ask the college for an updated net-cost calculation and whether the scholarship pays directly to the institution. Students can use the foundation’s information sessions and FAQs for cycle, eligibility, and notification questions.
Ask the financial-aid office for a written term-by-term estimate separating tuition, fees, housing, books, and other costs. Keep the award letter, records, and any service agreement. If your studies, residence, or course load change, contact the administrator before that decision affects your aid.
