About Folklore Santa Fe

Folklore Santa Fe: Contemporary Art Gallery and Gathering Space in the Historic Eastside

Folklore Santa Fe is a contemporary art gallery and a space for gathering located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Its focus is on telling the stories of artists who create from a deep connection with the land, using natural materials and ancient, reverent practices. The project was founded and is directed by Kelly Dye, a curator and designer with a special interest in textile art and natural pigments.

Established in 2019, Folklore's flagship gallery in Santa Fe occupies a territorial-style adobe building in the Historic Eastside neighborhood. The space hosts rotating small group and solo exhibitions, along with a permanent collection of fine jewelry, a ceremonial tea room, and a gift shop highlighting local artisans.

Programming and Collections

The gallery's activity is organized around temporary exhibitions—solo and small group—that rotate throughout the year. The exhibition on view at the time of analysis was titled Seeding. In addition to the exhibitions, the space maintains a permanent collection of fine jewelry and a gift shop with pieces by local artisans.

Kelly Dye, Founder and Gallerist

Kelly Dye was born and raised in Northern California. Her visual training combines formal art studies and more than a decade of work in New York for beauty and fashion brands. To that trajectory she adds a period of creative exploration, spiritual practice, and travels through India, Southeast Asia, and Mexico, where she learned from local artisans. From these experiences, Folklore was born in 2019.

Dye studied Feng Shui, sustainable design, textile arts, fashion marketing, and visual communication. She holds an AAS from Parsons The New School for Design and a BA from Furman University. Her curatorial work at Folklore has appeared in Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, and several regional publications. She currently splits her time between Santa Fe (New Mexico) and Laguna Beach (California).
