About City College of San Francisco — Chinatown/North Beach Center

At 808 Kearny Street, the Chinatown/North Beach Center puts classes and student services inside a dense downtown neighborhood rather than on a traditional suburban campus. The main building sits near Washington Street; a second teaching annex is at 628 Washington. CCSF schedules day, evening and weekend instruction here, with credit classes in subjects such as architecture, biology, child development, engineering, fashion, math and Asian American studies. Noncredit offerings include English, citizenship preparation, custodial training and courses for older adults, subject to the current schedule.

The center houses admissions and financial-aid assistance, counseling, a library, bookstore and student activities. Muni routes 8/8X, 10/12, 30/30X, 41 and 45 serve nearby streets; the Chinatown–Rose Pak Muni Metro station and Montgomery BART station are useful rail connections. The college says parking is limited to on-street spaces, so transit is often the simpler plan. In public comments, students describe coming to learn English without tuition and praise the central setting and updated facilities. Noncredit ESL eligibility is not universal, so applicants should check residency and program rules before budgeting.

This is a good fit for students who want evening or weekend options close to Chinatown, North Beach and the Financial District, or who are starting with English and adult-learning classes. It is not a substitute for checking the room number: the center also uses the annex, and the course schedule identifies the building for each class.

In brief
