Ricos SAFC Pro Academy

Ricos SAFC Pro Academy is the youth pathway of San Antonio FC, built for boys who are already playing at a high level and want to be evaluated for a professional-club environment. It is selective: registration for the 2026 tryout cycle is closed, and the club says families should return at the end of the year for 2027 information. The academy page lists teams across several youth age brackets and competition levels; that breadth should not be confused with a public beginner league. A player’s age, current experience and the next posted identification date determine whether an application makes sense.

The academy began in 2016 and entered a new operating phase in 2026–27, when San Antonio FC announced that it would manage the structure directly rather than continue its prior affiliation with Lonestar Soccer Club. The club reports that more than 40 academy players joined first-team training environments or competitions during its first ten seasons. Those are club-reported pathway outcomes, not a promise of selection, a professional contract or a college scholarship. The public page does not list tuition; ask the academy about current costs, training commitment, travel and roster expectations when the next evaluation opens.

The listed San Antonio training base is STAR Soccer Complex, at 5103 David Edwards Drive. The nearby map listing named SAFC Academy has only a small number of public comments, so they do not establish a pattern about coaching or player development. The facility route is useful after the club confirms a session; tryouts and academy practices are not drop-in activities. San Antonio FC competes in the USL Championship, a professional league below MLS, so the local pathway is different from an MLS academy. Check SAFC’s current tryout notice before planning a visit.
