Alamo Technical Institute — Workforce Center of Excellence

Alamo Technical Institute (ATI) connects San Antonio residents with adult English, high-school-equivalency preparation and short workforce training. Its Workforce Center of Excellence at 203 Norton Street is a training and meeting facility near downtown; the district directory lists it separately from the five degree-granting colleges. Adults looking for an initial pathway can ask ATI whether their English level, education history and career goal fit a community class or a short credential.

The institute’s neighborhood network includes Eastside, Southside and Westside Education & Training Centers. The district describes these as local access points for ESL, GED preparation and career training, with staff who help explain enrollment and next steps. Courses vary by center and term, so contact the specific location before traveling and confirm whether classes are currently meeting there. Adult programs may have eligibility and assessment requirements distinct from credit-bearing college admissions.

WCOE lists meeting rooms and computer labs and says parking is free for facility users; the site explains that room use may be scheduled by organizations and that fees can depend on the event. Do not assume every adult class meets at WCOE: ATI assigns activities across its network. The district map currently lists the Westside address as 563 SW 40th Street, while older ATI materials may show a previous street number; use the current district directory or call to confirm. The locations list gives each currently published center address and phone.
