About Salt Lake City Dental Assistant School

Dental Assistant Training in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City Dental Assistant School is a career training center specializing in dental assistant training. Its program is taught in real dental offices in Salt Lake City, with instructors who work in the profession, and is designed for students to gain hands-on experience with equipment and technology used in current dental practice.

The center presents itself as a joint initiative between Zollege and local dental offices, so that training takes place in the environment where the real work is done. The school is part of the Zollege Healthcare Career School, LLC network.

The 12-Week Program

Training is structured as a 12-week course with a guided four-step admissions process: learn about the program, complete the application, pay the deposit, and complete the program. The deposit is applied toward tuition, and students receive a free set of scrubs when classes begin.

The program offers flexible start dates throughout the year. The next class listed on the site began on October 3, with a schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The school also hosts virtual information events, such as the one titled "Build A Career That Lasts."

Certifications and Licensure

Upon completing the program, students receive a Certificate of Completion and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification card issued by the American Heart Association. The program has been reviewed and approved by the Dentist & Dental Hygienist Licensing Board and meets the requirements outlined in rules R156-69-603 and R156-69-604, which qualifies students to perform radiography after completing the training.

Skills and Learning Environment

Instruction is hands-on and skills-based. Classes are held in real dental offices, where students learn and practice with the same tools and technologies used in the profession. Instructors understand the daily operations of a dental practice and translate theory into practice.

The center presents itself as an option with affordable tuition and flexible payment plans, with the goal of helping students graduate without student loan debt. The school states that the program can be paid for week by week.

Career Support and Job Outcomes

The center offers job search support, including résumé reviews, interview tips, and guidance from job assistance specialists. The school also has a service for dental offices to hire its graduates.

According to data cited by the center itself, dental assisting is one of the fastest-growing occupations in healthcare. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 7% employment growth between 2025 and 2035 and reports a national median wage of $48,070 a year for dental assistants.

Origin of the Project

Zollege was founded in 2010 as Vandelay Education by Dr. Thomas Ince, a dentist who could not find well-trained dental assistants to hire. Instead of waiting for traditional programs to change, he created the program he wanted: shorter, taught hands-on in working dental offices, and structured so it could be paid for without loans. His brother Ryan, a physician, faced the same problem in the medical field, and both collaborated on a medical assistant program built with the same accelerated, in-office approach.

Admissions and Contact

The admissions team answers questions about program details, schedule, tuition, payment plans, financial assistance options, enrollment requirements, and career opportunities. The center states that it responds to inquiries within 24 hours. The school is registered by the Utah Department of Commerce, Division of Consumer Protection.
