About Salem Foundation First in the Family Scholarship 2027
The Salem Foundation First in the Family Scholarship supports first-generation students: those who will be the first in their family to attend college or whose parents and grandparents do not hold college degrees. The listed 2027 award is $6,000, paid directly to the college. Previous recipients may apply again in later years with updated academic records.
For this cycle, graduating seniors at public high schools in Silver Falls, North Santiam, Woodburn, Gervais, Cascade, Jefferson, and Mt. Angel districts may apply if they plan to attend an accredited college or university in fall 2027. Trade schools and community colleges are not eligible under the program page. The listed minimum GPA is 3.5; financial need is considered but is not required.
The online application must be completed by February 28, 2027, and the official high-school transcript in a school-sealed envelope must be postmarked by that date. The application also asks for a one-page essay about the scholarship, planned studies, and future goals; activities, a college-funding plan, and two recommendations are required, at least one from someone outside the school or college.
The page labels the school year 2026–27 even though it explicitly says applicants must enroll in fall 2027; when preparing the file, follow that direct instruction and check whether the Foundation posts a revision. The scholarship may support tuition, room, board, books, fees, and other qualifying college expenses. Keep the application receipt and coordinate transcript mailing with the counseling office before the deadline.
