About Wake Tech — Southern Wake Campus
Southern Wake is Wake Tech’s original campus, at 9101 Fayetteville Road south of downtown Raleigh. The college opened here in 1963, and the 139-acre site still carries a broad mix of transfer courses, career training and student services. Its scale means a visit is most useful after confirming the building and office for your appointment.
Students can begin an Associate in Arts, Science or Engineering pathway for transfer, or explore applied programs in construction and skilled technologies, business and professional services, and information technology. Short workforce courses lead to selected licenses and certifications. Culinary, cosmetology, heavy-equipment and skilled-trades labs make the campus a hands-on counterpart to its general academic work.
Wake Tech lists college administration, the Foundation, advising, financial aid, tutoring, a library and a gymnasium here. The campus map helps visitors locate services by building; student vehicles require Wake Tech registration and a parking decal. GoRaleigh’s 40X links the area with downtown transit connections. All students may request the regional GoPass, which covers GoRaleigh and GoTriangle buses under the college’s current program.
Public comments on the exact campus listing include favorable remarks about the setting and instructors, as well as questions from prospective students about Spanish-language instruction in trade classes. Those accounts are useful clues, not a guarantee for a particular course. Ask the department whether the current section is taught in Spanish or English and where its lab meets before arranging a visit.
The original Wake Tech site combines university-transfer study and career programs with advising, a gymnasium and hands-on labs for culinary arts, cosmetology, heavy equipment and skilled trades.
