About Scioto Foundation UCAN Scholarships 2027–28

The Scioto Foundation’s 2027–28 scholarship application opens November 1, 2026, and closes January 31, 2027. Its portal brings together awards connected with UCAN, a local network designed to help students plan for, prepare for, and pay for college. The Foundation describes a partnership among school districts, Scioto County ESC, Shawnee State University, local businesses, and donors.

Eligible applicants are students planning to attend a college or university in the fall and pursuing an undergraduate, medical, or architecture degree. The eligible area includes Scioto, Adams, Pike, Jackson, and Lawrence counties in Ohio, plus Greenup and Lewis counties in Kentucky. Living near Portsmouth is not enough if legal residence falls outside the area or the study plan does not match the published criteria.

UCAN also provides college-access guidance through counselors working with participating schools. In past years, the Foundation has described scholarships with different funding sources and eligibility rules; each award depends on its fund and committee, so a historical average should not be treated as an individual promise. The official portal includes videos for applicants and recommenders completing their parts.

The application may request references and fund-specific materials. For technical help, the Foundation lists 740-354-4612 and info@thesciotofoundation.org. Begin the file when the portal opens, identify each matching opportunity, and check each recommender’s instructions. High-school seniors should confirm with their counselor whether their school participates in UCAN and how to coordinate academic and financial documents.
