Philadelphia Union Rec — Gorgas Park

Union Rec is the Philadelphia Union’s community recreation program, not the club’s selective professional academy. At Gorgas Park in Roxborough, the current fall cycle lists boys and girls ages 3–12 and runs from September 1 through November 11, 2026. Families can expect a local-club setting supported by Union coaches, branded jerseys, developmental sessions and additional club programming; the Union page says most host programs span six to eight weeks, usually on weekends. The listed Philadelphia dates are the detail to use for this park, because other Union Rec partners operate on different calendars.

The Union describes its role as helping neighborhood clubs run intramural soccer through administration, coaching support and jerseys. Its published usual price range is $100–$150, but each community operator sets the actual amount. The program welcomes beginners as well as players with experience; that makes it a reasonable first step for children who want regular games without immediately entering a travel team. Ask the host club what is included, whether it supplies both jerseys and how rainouts are handled before paying.

Gorgas Park is the program venue at 6300 Ridge Avenue, not the Union’s stadium or training headquarters. Families should use the listed park address for the fall sessions and confirm exact meeting times with the registration contact. The professional Union play in MLS at Subaru Park in Chester, more than fifteen miles from Center City; the stadium’s waterfront location should not be confused with this neighborhood program. The host page links directly to registration and gives Patrick Kelleher as the Union Rec contact.
