About Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance
Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance: promoting wine from California's Central Coast
Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance (PRWCA) is a cooperative marketing alliance made up of wineries, vineyards, and related businesses in Paso Robles Wine Country. It is a 501c6 nonprofit organization operated under the guidance of a nine-member board of directors. Its stated mission is the promotion and protection of Paso Robles Wine Country, as well as the continuous improvement of the quality of its wines, vineyards, and experiences.
A region with more than 200 wineries
The territory the alliance represents is home to more than 200 wineries. Offerings range from laid-back tastings under ancient oaks to intimate experiences among barrels in underground caves. The organization itself describes experiences such as enjoying a glass on horseback or after a zip line adventure as commonplace. The region presents itself as a destination where visitors can both relax and explore.
Agricultural history and setting
Paso Robles has a long history as an agricultural community, with ranches dating back to barley and almonds that are now vineyards. The alliance emphasizes that the region's diverse climate, combined with an equally distinct landscape, both challenges and inspires the vineyard growers and winemakers who work there.
Beyond wine
The area's offerings include award-winning wines, a historic downtown, restaurants, and standout scenery. The alliance also mentions beaches, hiking, cycling, golf, and the nearby Hearst Castle as complementary attractions. The region sits in the heart of California's Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Events and programs
Paso Robles Wine Country celebrates activities throughout the year. Among the major festivals the alliance highlights are BlendFest on the Coast, Paso Wine Fest, Paso Wine Virtual Auction, and Harvest Wine Month, plus numerous events hosted by wineries every weekend. The calendar featured on the site included the Paso Wine virtual auction (September 14-23), California Wine Month (all of September), and Harvest Wine Month (all of October), the latter spread across various Paso Robles locations.
Structure and governance
The organization operates with a nine-member board of directors. The 2026 board includes representatives from wineries and businesses such as MAHA Estate | Villa Creek Cellars, O'Neill Vintners & Distillers, Vineyard Professional Services, Coakley Vineyard, Thacher Winery, Thibido Winery & Écluse Wines, The Hatch Rotisserie & Bar, Della's Woodfired Pizza & Cocktails, Field Recordings, Nenow Family Wines, ONX Vineyards & Winery, Kiler Canyon Vineyard, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Justin Vineyards & Winery, and Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery.
The alliance has working committees —Government Affairs, Trade, Marketing Roundtable, Membership, and Events— made up of professionals from the different segments of the membership: wineries, growers, hospitality, and associates. Its goals include increasing awareness of Paso Robles wine and visitation to the area, earning industry respect for the quality of its wines and grapes, and fostering community understanding of the wine industry. Committee members must be in good financial standing, attend meetings, encourage other members to participate in PRWCA programs, and make recommendations to the board of directors.
Resources for visitors and members
The alliance offers a mobile app (Paso Wine App), a winery map, a blog, and a podcast, as well as an email newsletter. It also has a downloadable Paso Wine Country map and a visitor's guide that can be requested. For its members, it maintains a winery directory and an associate member directory, as well as a media center, economic impact information, and a classifieds section.
