plEDGE for All — College of the Desert

plEDGE for All is a phased expansion intended to provide tuition-free education to Coachella Valley residents regardless of age or income, with full expansion planned by 2030. It does not mean every resident is already covered: the initial Fall 2026 phase includes veterans, returning students with 30 or more units, noncredit workforce learners, first-responder trainees, and residents with a high-school equivalency. About plEDGE for All — College of the Desert

plEDGE for All is a phased expansion intended to provide tuition-free education to Coachella Valley residents regardless of age or income, with full expansion planned by 2030. It does not mean every resident is already covered: the initial Fall 2026 phase includes veterans, returning students with 30 or more units, noncredit workforce learners, first-responder trainees, and residents with a high-school equivalency.

The first-phase 2026 application ran from March 1 to May 31 and is now closed. College of the Desert says the next application will open March 1, 2027. Local high-school graduates remain eligible to explore the original plEDGE program, which has separate eligibility and tuition/fee coverage; do not confuse it with the newer plEDGE for All.

First identify which initial group applies to you and gather evidence—veteran status, prior units, noncredit training enrollment, first-responder training, or equivalency—before the next application period. Contact pledgeforall@collegeofthedesert.edu to confirm the category and required documentation. Local high-school graduates should use the separate original plEDGE application for seniors.

The 2030 date is an expansion goal, not a promise that all categories will enter the same term or receive identical support. Funding combines public aid and donations, and the rollout is phased. Confirm enrollment, non-tuition charges, and complementary aid with COD before assuming zero cost.
