About Oxnard College — Main Campus

Oxnard College opened in 1975 after years of local planning for the Oxnard Plain. The 118-acre main campus at 4000 South Rose Avenue combines classrooms, science and career labs, student services, a library and athletic facilities. The college sits in Ventura County’s largest city, between agricultural areas and the coast, and serves a broad commuter population.

Its catalog lists more than 60 disciplines, including transfer degrees, dental hygiene and assisting, nursing pathways, culinary and restaurant management, hospitality, automotive and public safety. Some careers include clinical or practical training and separate admissions requirements. An associate degree commonly requires about 60 units; consult each program map for prerequisites, sequence and expected terms.

Applicants begin with the college application and then complete orientation, placement, counseling and enrollment tasks. The Welcome Center can help with registration and ESL entry. Student support includes tutoring, textbook and laptop lending through the ESL program, financial-aid services and the Oxnard College Promise for eligible first-time full-time students.

The 2026–27 district base charge is $46 per unit. Oxnard lists additional health, student-center, materials and nonresident fees; eligible students can apply for federal and state aid, the California College Promise Grant, scholarships and the college Promise program. Noncredit classes, including several ESL levels, are tuition-free and award no college units.

Oxnard’s English pathway is unusually explicit: noncredit beginner-to-advanced courses build listening, speaking, reading and writing before students move into credit ESL and transfer-level composition. A guided self-placement questionnaire helps identify a starting point. Day and evening sections are offered, and the program lists free tutoring, textbooks and laptop or Wi-Fi hotspot loans.

The campus map identifies the clock tower, library and learning center, dental teaching facilities, industrial kitchen, student services, gym and parking. Virtual parking permits are required during enforced terms. The college’s former Marine Education Center has relocated to the main campus; its current page directs students to Oxnard rather than the old harbor address.

Start with admission and enrollment, compare fees and use the English/Spanish ESL pathway to find a language sequence.
