About Oklahoma City Community College — Main Campus
Oklahoma City Community College’s Main Campus is at 7777 S May Ave, south of the city center. This is the institution’s broadest in-person base: the college’s central admissions and student-support operations are here, along with classrooms and academic divisions. OCCC traces its beginnings to a 1972 civic effort; it opened as South Oklahoma City Junior College with just over 1,000 students in one building, then adopted its current name in 1983. Today it reports more than 80 associate degrees and certificates and serves over 18,000 people a year through credit, noncredit, and workforce programs.
The catalog spans five academic divisions: arts, English and humanities; business and information technology; health professions; science, engineering and mathematics; and social sciences. OCCC highlights nursing, cybersecurity, engineering, automotive technology, and film and digital media among its high-demand areas. The college offers both eight- and sixteen-week formats, but each credential has its own sequence, prerequisites, and credit total. Health programs such as nursing and physical or occupational therapy have selective admission steps, so applicants should compare the current catalog and program application packet before building a schedule.
A new student begins with the admission application and required records. OCCC’s admissions FAQ distinguishes applicants under 21, who are asked for a high-school transcript, ACT scores, and transcripts from other colleges attended, from those over 21, for whom prior-college records are requested while high-school records are usually not required. Placement tools and an advisor help determine the right first courses; all first-time students meet with an advisor before registration. Apply through the college’s admissions page, then follow the individual checklist and deadlines shown for the intended term.
The published tuition-and-fee total is $146.06 per credit hour for Oklahoma residents and $337.76 for nonresidents, effective Fall 2025. At 12 credits, that is $1,752.72 or $4,053.12 before program-specific costs and any additional charges. The cost page lists other possible fees, including laboratory, music, testing, and technology-related charges. FAFSA can open access to federal aid, while OCCC scholarships and waivers have separate eligibility rules. The OKCGo program is a local last-dollar tuition benefit for eligible graduates of named Oklahoma City and Western Heights schools; it does not pay books or fees and has credit-load, FAFSA, timing, and continued-enrollment conditions.
For English learners, OCCC has a distinct, free, noncredit adult ESL program rather than treating language study as a degree prerequisite. Courses are placed across the Oklahoma City metro, use a short assessment to guide level placement, and combine language skills with work and academic readiness. The college also publishes free High School Equivalency classes through Community Outreach & Education. These classes are separate from credit-bearing degree courses; anyone planning to move from ESL to a regular program should contact admissions and advising to confirm placement, documentation, and the sequence of steps.
The main campus is the place to compare programs, speak with admissions, and see the full range of student facilities. OCCC says campus parking is free, but every vehicle must display an institutional parking decal; visitor spaces and accessible spaces are designated, and the campus map identifies lots. Recreation and Fitness lists exercise programs, pickleball, a walking-trail map, and a wellness center near lots E and F by the Social Science Center. Check current hours and membership rules before making a trip. For applicants who need a face-to-face start, OCCC also offers guided campus tours on published days and times.
The college’s principal campus, with admissions, advising, 80-plus associate degrees and certificates, recreation facilities, and free campus parking with a required permit.
