Areawide Aging Agency — Oklahoma City Area Agency on Aging

Areawide Aging Agency coordinates resources for adults age 60 and older in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan counties. It lists information, nutrition, transportation, caregiver support, ombudsman, and other programs; enrollment depends on each service and its funding.

About Areawide Aging Agency — Oklahoma City Area Agency on Aging

Areawide Aging Agency is the Area Agency on Aging for Oklahoma County and three neighboring counties: Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan. For Oklahoma City residents, it connects people with regional programs and community providers funded or coordinated under the Older Americans Act. The agency says adults age 60 and older may access its services, while each program keeps its own restrictions and financial help depends on available funding.

Its information-and-assistance line, (405) 942-8500, is a starting point for older adults, caregivers, and professionals. The agency publishes a resource directory of more than 200 pages and helps locate meals, health and wellness activities, transportation, legal assistance, and caregiver support. The main office is at 4101 Perimeter Center Drive, Suite 310, Oklahoma City; published hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It also lists info@areawideaging.org.

For nutrition, the services page describes hot, balanced meals for people age 60 and older, five days a week at participating centers. In addition to lunch, sites may offer consumer information, nutrition education, and recreation. Home delivery or a particular meal site depends on the person’s location and assigned provider; call with the ZIP code to ask about the nearest site, transportation, and waitlists.

Transportation is arranged through a partnership with EMBARK for adults age 60 and older who have limited access to other options. The agency lists rides to nutrition sites, medical facilities, grocery stores, and other necessary destinations; call EMBARK at (405) 297-2583 about reservations and coverage. Caregiver support includes quarterly respite vouchers administered by Aging Services, Inc.; the page directs questions to (405) 321-3200. Neither service should be described as universal or guaranteed immediate transportation.

The agency also runs a Long-Term Care Ombudsman for residents of nursing homes and assisted living, with information about residents’ rights and problem-solving. When asking about meals, rides, or caregiver respite, give the county and home address, who lives in the household, and the barriers involved. Some assistance is screened for income and program restrictions, and the agency warns that support depends on donations, sponsorships, grants, and community availability.
