Function Coffee Co.
Family-owned Northlake coffee shop and roaster with specialty coffee, matcha drinks, pastries, breakfast tacos, and subscriptions.
About Function Coffee Co.
Function Coffee Co. brings a family roaster’s work into a Northlake, Texas, coffee shop. Tony and Devin, the husband-and-wife team behind the business, roast specialty coffee in small batches every week and have opened a gathering place for neighbors from Northlake, Argyle, and Justin. The Northlake Commons location, facing FM 407, combines coffee purchases with a table for conversation, laptop work, or breakfast.
The collection introduces the beans before a drink is chosen. Pioneer is a medium-roast Brazilian coffee processed naturally; Brainstorm follows that roast profile with an El Salvador origin. Momentum blends coffees from Brazil and Ethiopia using natural and washed processes, while Demitasse offers a light-roast washed Ethiopian coffee. Orders distinguish whole beans from grinds for different brewing methods, with home-use sizes and larger bags.
At the counter, espresso, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, flat white, latte, and Americano sit alongside drip coffee and 24-hour cold brew. House lattes have names including The Teddy, Scout’s Honor, Brown-Eyed Girl, and Wallflower. Matcha has its own family of drinks: Hummingbird, Beekeeper, Matcha Palmer, and VCR, identified as Vanilla Cinnamon Roll. Chai, tea, lemonade, and hot chocolate broaden the choices for customers who do not want coffee.
The food menu identifies its suppliers. Everett & Elaine provides butter, chocolate, and almond croissants, blueberry and coffee cake muffins, and the Function Pizza Twist. Pinch of Salt appears in the gluten-free section with lemon blueberry and raspberry white chocolate pound cakes and a vanilla donut. These are specific supplier selections, rather than pastries all attributed to the roaster’s own production.
Tacos y Rocky adds another way to plan breakfast or a light meal. Landman, Mediterranean Bacon, and Farmhouse Luxe share the menu with vegetarian options such as Lebanese Potato, Mexican Veggie, and Egg White Capri. The grab-and-go section includes Fox & Otter pickles, OMeGa Bars, and bags of Function coffee. Children’s drinks, including Berry Blush and Nilla Steamer, ensure the counter is not limited to adults’ preferences.
Online sales and subscriptions extend a visit to the shop, allowing customers to receive the coffee served there and choose a regular favorite. The business connects two activities, roasting and serving, with distinct bean names and origins and a drinks-and-food menu broad enough to plan a morning in Northlake. Its neighborhood living-room idea takes shape in the gathering space and the direct connection between the people roasting the beans and serving the cup.
