About Veteran Tickets Foundation
Veteran Tickets Foundation: event tickets for military members and veterans
Veteran Tickets Foundation, known as Vet Tix, is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that presents itself as the largest veteran-focused nonprofit in the country, with more than 2.9 million verified members, called VetTixers. Its work consists of providing event tickets to members of all branches of the armed forces on active duty, veterans with honorable discharge, and immediate family members of military personnel killed in action.
The organization states that its mission is to provide experiences that reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, create lasting memories, and keep military members and veterans connected with their local communities and American life. According to its own account, it is an organization that allocates 99% of its funds to programs, with independent audits over the past 16 years.
How access to tickets works
Those interested register online and the organization verifies their service status. Once verified, VetTixers request tickets for the events they are interested in and pay a small delivery fee to receive their free tickets. The platform shows available events in real time; at the time of scanning, 5,627 events were open.
Vet Tix obtains tickets through partnerships with professional sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues, and individual ticket holders. The organization reports that, to date, 41,117,738 event tickets have been donated across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with the goal of supporting military members, veterans, and their families.
Programs: Tickets for Troops and Hero's Wish
The Tickets for Troops program is dedicated to giving back to those who have served, in collaboration with sports teams, leagues, promoters, and organizations. It provides free tickets to active-duty military members and veterans of all branches of the U.S. armed forces.
The Hero's Wish program offers a unique experience to deployed members, severely wounded warriors, and families of those killed in action. It is available to active-duty military personnel (six months before, during leave from, or six months after a deployment), severely wounded warriors, and family members of military personnel killed in action. The organization states that since 2013 it has fulfilled every wish requested and that to date 158 wishes have been granted. For 2026, it has set a goal of covering 100% of Hero's Wishes, with a funding target of $175,000, of which $118,491 had been raised at the time of scanning.
Ticket donations and financial support
The foundation accepts event ticket donations from individuals and organizations, who may receive a tax-deductible receipt. The website encourages spreading the word about this possibility with the argument that an empty seat doesn't do anyone any good. You can also contribute financially, either through one-time donations or as a monthly sponsor.
The organization states that it is a 501(c)(3) entity and that it operates under the motto "Give Something to Those Who Gave." Its work is part of supporting the quality of life of military members and veterans, strengthening family bonds through shared experiences.
Context and community served
Vet Tix frames its work within the specific needs of the U.S. military community. According to data maintained by the organization itself, 16.6 million veterans have served during wartime, 3.6 million have service-related disabilities, 2.5 million have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and almost one million have had multiple deployments. Since 2002, more than 52,000 Americans have been wounded, more than 1,500 are amputees, and more than 6,800 have been killed in action.
The foundation maintains that the wounds of war, both mental and physical, can stay with veterans for the rest of their lives, and that supporting their transition back to family and community is a gesture of gratitude in which everyone can take part.
