In central Newark, the One-Stop Career Center can turn a scattered job search into a conversation with career staff. It is part of the New Jersey Department of Labor network, which offers help finding openings, preparing résumés, exploring training and using digital resources. Its resource room has computers and telephones; the aim is to help visitors leave with practical next steps, not a promise of a job, which always rests with the employer.
