Futonland

A sofa that turns into a bed, a chair for an overnight guest, or a cabinet that opens into a sleeping surface: Futonland organizes its catalog around these transformations. Established in 1995, the company combines online sales with showrooms in the New York area. Its specialty is functional furniture, futons, sofa beds, and mattresses.

The futon collection allows customers to choose complete sets or select a frame, mattress, and cover separately. There are Full and Queen options, loveseat models, Wall Hugger frames, and storage drawers. Fabric samples, protectors, and nonslip pads are part of the selection, offering different ways to adapt the same system to everyday use.

Convertible sofas include storage models, pull-out mechanisms, chaises, and sectionals. Murphy beds are offered both as compact cabinets that unfold and as wall-bed solutions. Arason, Night & Day Furniture, AFI Furnishings, Strata Furniture, and Kodiak are among the catalog’s brands, each with its own frames and sleeping arrangements.

Mattresses include conventional and futon-specific models, with cotton, foam, wool, and other compositions depending on the product. The range extends to beds, nightstands, dressers, dining tables, chairs, office furniture, and décor. That breadth makes it possible to combine convertible furniture with other elements of a room rather than limiting a purchase to the transforming piece.

New York services include design help, mattress and furniture disposal, and futon moving within the five boroughs. Delivery can include assembly and packaging removal through White Glove service. Fabric work and corporate sales have their own sections. The scope of these services is separate from product shipping to other destinations.

The Upper West Side showroom is at 730 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10025. Greenpoint combines a showroom and warehouse at 255 Calyer St, Brooklyn, NY 11222; Newark has both at 36 Broadway, Newark, NJ 07104. Showrooms allow visitors to try a selection of furniture and mattresses, while warehouses expand pickup options for available items. Not every product is displayed at each location.
