About JOB1 Business and Career Solutions Center

JOB1 is New Orleans’ municipal gateway to several employment and training programmes, not a private agency selling access to vacancies. Its website says job seekers can get free help with résumés, searching and referrals, work-readiness skills, training scholarships and labour-market information. It also lists occupational training, assessments and career support, while explaining that opportunities depend on each person’s circumstances and programme availability. The city lists the centre on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, in the Central City corridor, a useful location for anyone combining a job-service appointment with other downtown errands.

However, the information about access does not line up: the city directory gives an address and hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and until 1 p.m. on Friday; JOB1’s home page still carries a pandemic notice saying the centre is closed to the public, although it adds that staff can address other workforce needs by phone. The page does not say when that notice was last updated. We could not confirm a recent Google rating for the exact centre, and the directories we found show imprecise figures without a clear cut-off date, so we have not presented a score as current. At a public workforce-board meeting in December 2025, the operator reported 383 job placements, 55 placements in training and 73 credentials, while the state began a programmatic and financial review of fiscal year 2025. Those are aggregated figures reported by the programme, not an independent verification of each case.

Before travelling, call (504) 658-4500 or email JOB1@nola.gov and ask specifically whether staff are seeing visitors in person, whether you need an appointment, what documents to bring and whether the programme you want has openings. The city lists the address as 1307 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, Suite 3000, New Orleans, Louisiana 70113. If you do not receive a service the programme advertised, request a written response and contact the Office of Workforce Development or the local public board, which oversees programmes funded under the federal WIOA law. The gap between the city’s hours and the old notice deserves a public clarification; on its own, it does not prove a breach. JOB1 says services for job seekers are free: be wary of anyone charging to guarantee an interview or hire, and confirm every vacancy directly with the employer.
