Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee General Scholarship
Community scholarships are not always a single award with one set of rules: a foundation may administer funds created by families, schools, or businesses and match applications to different criteria. The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee administers more than 160 scholarship funds and encourages students in the region to complete its general application. Requirements may depend on financial need, school area, field of study, employer, or other fund-specific criteria.

The official annual calendar sets opening on December 1 at 8 a.m. Central Time and closing on February 1 at 11:30 p.m. The general application does not replace special forms required by some funds; the Foundation’s list separates scholarships for schools, counties, and employers. The portal is the route for reviewing criteria and completing requirements, so students should read each listing and prepare FAFSA information, transcripts, essays, or references when requested.
The Foundation expects committees to review applications from February through April, release decisions on April 15, and ask recipients to complete a follow-up form by June 1. Checks are mailed directly to the college around mid-July and split between fall and spring semesters. Before including a scholarship in a budget, confirm the amount for the specific fund, whether it can renew, and how it interacts with other aid. Award amounts are not uniform; the FAQ says they vary by fund.
To compare this benefit with other options, ask financial aid for an estimate separating tuition, fees, housing, and excluded expenses. Confirm whether it can renew, what academic progress it requires, and whom to contact if payment does not appear on the account. Keep award letters and receipts until the school confirms disbursement.
