About FiftyForward Fresh — Meals on Wheels and Supportive Care
FiftyForward brings together two kinds of support that are useful to distinguish. Its centers offer education, exercise, arts, and community activities for adults age 50 and older. FiftyForward Fresh, the current name of its home-delivered meal program, serves older adults who have difficulty preparing food safely or obtaining meals. The nonprofit says coverage depends on a designated catchment area and that it refers callers elsewhere when their address falls outside that area.
To request FiftyForward Fresh, call the Resource Line at 615-743-3416. The program assesses each request to determine need and cost. FiftyForward lists meals at $5 for some participants and free service for others based on income. It also describes grocery support and extra food for weather closures, additional meals for clients at higher nutritional risk, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for isolated older adults, and volunteer visits that can notice changes in safety or wellbeing.
FiftyForward has operated since 1956, and its centers offer more than 100 daytime and evening classes, including tai chi, yoga, dance, SilverSneakers, arts, languages, writing, and computer skills. The organization’s free class offer applies to one session. This community option may fit someone who does not need clinical care but would benefit from activity, company, and a welcoming routine; for more supervised adult-day support, FiftyForward operates a separate program called FiftyForward Friends.
The main office is at 174 Rains Avenue, which is also the Knowles Center. Davidson County locations include Bordeaux, Donelson Station, J. L. Turner, Knowles, and Madison Station; addresses and phone numbers are listed above. La Vergne and Martin Center are outside Davidson County and are not presented as Nashville locations. These are activity centers; we do not assume each one handles enrollment or meal delivery for FiftyForward Fresh. Call the Resource Line before traveling and ask who serves the ZIP code, whether there is a waitlist, which financial documents are needed, and how the contribution is determined.
