About Lummus Park

Lummus Park separates Ocean Drive from the sand and offers one of South Beach’s most recognisable scenes: palms, colourful lifeguard towers and Art Deco façades on one side, the Atlantic on the other. The park follows the shoreline between 5th Street and 14th Place and shows how the beach is part of city life, not just a view. Pedestrian and cycling paths lead from the hotels and restaurants to the water.

The city maintains public restrooms, drinking fountains, playgrounds, fitness equipment and volleyball courts; Muscle Beach is at 9th Street, with another outdoor gym near 6th. Visitors value the easy mix of walking, beach time and architecture, although the park gets crowded and the Ocean Drive edge can feel busy. Bring water, sunscreen and shoes for hot pavement; fitness areas keep separate hours and facilities can have queues.

The park runs along Ocean Drive from 5th Street to 14th Place. It is open daily from sunrise to midnight, with accessible areas, restrooms at 6th, 10th and 14th streets, and direct beach access. The city restricts parking on Ocean Drive, so walking, cycling or using Miami Beach’s free trolley is easier. Allow an hour for a simple stroll and longer if you plan to swim, play volleyball or rest by the sea.
