DeSoto Falls is a separate area of DeSoto State Park, about seven miles from the park’s main hub. The waterfall lies in the Little River area, and the site has a picnic area and visitor access. It is not the same place as the lodge or the starting point for every DeSoto trail.
Alabama State Parks lists a $5 per-vehicle parking charge at the falls and says the main park has no general entrance fee. Fees can change, so check the state page before traveling. Outdoor hours run from sunrise to sunset, subject to closures and conditions.
There is a specific route caution: the state advises against relying on GPS to reach DeSoto Falls and says County Road 613 is unsuitable for trailers and RVs. Travelers should consult the official written directions and follow closures. The park’s phone is 256-845-0051. From Mentone, this requires a drive on mountain roads; it is not a walk from downtown.
