About Overton Park
Overton Park combines outdoor recreation and a protected forest in Midtown Memphis. Memphis Parks publishes 1930 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104 as the park address. Overton Park Conservancy gives 901-214-5450 for organization contact. The Google main-park listing displays 1914 Poplar Avenue, Suite 202, an organization address; that is not substituted for the municipal visitor location.
The Conservancy's current FAQ gives daily dawn-to-dusk grounds access without a park admission fee. Cultural venues and golf have separate admission or booking arrangements. Restrooms at Rainbow Lake Pavilion and East Parkway Pavilion lock at dusk and reopen at dawn; the golf clubhouse has its own hours. Check which area supports the planned outing rather than expecting identical facilities around the whole park.
Old Forest State Natural Area is managed with Tennessee's natural-area authorities. Its interpretive map and marked routes provide a practical way to explore the woodland without treating a broad park description as a trail measurement. Motorized vehicles are prohibited in the Old Forest and on grass. Dogs must be leashed except inside the gates of Overton Bark; overnight camping is prohibited.
The Conservancy announced a new roughly half-mile Old Forest loop opening November 13, 2025, in a previously restricted section. Current Old Forest resources should guide a 2026 visit rather than an old boundary assumption. No claim is made that every proposed park project is finished.
