About Southwest Tennessee Community College — Macon Cove Campus
Macon Cove is Southwest’s larger eastern campus, at 5983 Macon Cove near the I-40 and I-240 interchange. The college describes a 100-acre setting with a lake, classroom buildings and the Bert Bornblum Library. Its location and scale make it the district’s main base for many technology programs, as well as the Southwest Culinary Institute and continuing education. MATA’s current Route 53 schedule names Southwest Tennessee Community College–Macon as a stop; confirm the trip and service time before leaving.
The academic mix includes automotive service, architectural design, computer and engineering technologies, mechatronics, electrical engineering, hospitality management, business, criminal justice and early-childhood education. The campus map also identifies the gymnasium, testing center, Career Services, Veterans Affairs, advising, financial aid and the college’s Welcome Center. Applicants can use the Welcome Center for the first steps, then confirm whether a particular course or lab meets at Macon Cove or another location.
Students can find everyday services in the same campus area: the Bornblum Library and Academic Support Center, bookstore, cafeteria, student center, child-care center, cashier, testing and enrollment computer lab. Southwest’s campus map marks several parking areas, while the college requires students and employees to register vehicles and obtain an annual decal. Visitors should ask the office hosting their appointment about current guest parking arrangements and use the campus map to identify the right building.
Macon Cove is also the college address for International Student Affairs and ESL advising. Southwest lists four credit-bearing English-language courses—from beginning listening and speaking or reading and writing through intermediate and high-intermediate English—and ESL sections of composition, academic success and communication courses. A placement test and advising appointment help students choose an entry point; the live class schedule determines the current format and location.
