About South Plains College — Lubbock Downtown Center

South Plains College acquired the former Lubbock City Hall in 2019 and renovated the 101,000-square-foot building for academic instruction. The current Downtown Center opened to Arts and Sciences students in 2021 and contains 46 classrooms. Its central role is to bring transfer-oriented and general academic courses into the city, while giving students access to library, advising and enrollment services without travelling to the main campus in Levelland.

Admissions and Records, advising and testing are listed inside the building, along with a library and a writing center in the Student Success Center. The college’s current directory locates Admissions in room 1001, Advising in room 1002, testing in room 1007, the library in room 1028 and the Writing Center in Tutor Room E. Classes may meet in other rooms; use the campus directory or ask the instructor before visiting. The site is an academic center rather than a full technical campus, so check the catalog to make sure your program is offered here.

The address is 1625 13th Street. SPC publishes a campus parking map showing college lots near the building; its general rule requires a current parking permit and use of designated spaces. The Lubbock Citibus network serves the city, but routes and stops can change. Follow the address link for directions and check the current Citibus map before setting out.
