About Jefferson Community & Technical College — Southwest Campus
Southwest Campus occupies 65 acres in southwest Louisville. Jefferson traces its start to 1972 in rented high-school rooms; the current site opened in 1980 and now enrolls more than 3,000 students. The college places Aviation Maintenance Technology and its Business and Advanced Technology Division here, including information technology, mechatronics and engineering technology.
Students can also complete Associate in Arts and Associate in Science transfer degrees at Southwest. Each is a 60-credit route designed for transfer; Jefferson estimates two years for the AA with full-time study, though placement and course sequence affect the actual timeline. The college publishes driving directions and runs tours; check the schedule for the location of your specific course.
The site began as a community-backed campus rather than as a satellite classroom block: local support led to a 65-acre location and the current buildings. Its spread-out setting and specialized aviation program make it especially useful to check parking, classroom and lab locations before the first day.
A 65-acre site for aviation maintenance, IT, mechatronics, engineering technology and transfer degrees.
