BloomNation

Marketplace for selecting arrangements from local florists and arranging delivery by city availability.

About BloomNation

Sending flowers can look like a choice among nearly identical pictures. BloomNation asks shoppers to look at who actually makes the bouquet. Its marketplace gathers designs from local florists and lets customers buy an arrangement made by a professional in the destination city, rather than presenting a national chain as the workshop behind every order.

The company’s origins are tied to a family flower shop. Farbod Shoraka saw the difficulties his aunt’s store in Irvine, California, faced in gaining visibility and retaining margin when using intermediaries. With Gregg Weisstein, he launched BloomNation in 2011 as a marketplace where shops could show their own designs and connect with customers.

Visitors can search by city, occasion, flower type, and color. There are arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, thanks, and sympathy, as well as plants and seasonal designs. Photos represent the work of participating florists, so it is worth checking the shop behind each offer and its product terms rather than assuming the same bouquet is available everywhere.

Same-day delivery appears in some areas and for eligible orders; it depends on each florist’s coverage, order time, and available flowers. Choice narrows on busy dates. A message for the recipient and correct delivery details matter as much as the arrangement’s color, especially for delivery to a hospital, workplace, or funeral service.

BloomNation also sells tools to florists: online storefronts, order management, point-of-sale software, and ways to communicate with customers. That other side of the business explains the variety in its catalog. The platform does not make every bouquet from a central recipe; it helps many shops show their own style and manage digital sales.

For buyers, the advantage is comparing proposals with a local maker behind them. Classic roses serve a different purpose from a loose seasonal arrangement. Size, allowed substitutions, charges, and delivery windows should be read before payment, since flowers are living products and the result also depends on the workshop preparing them.

BloomNation works best as a bridge between someone who wants to send a gesture and the florist who can give it form. The value of the search is not merely finding flowers near the recipient; it is recognizing a particular kind of craft and choosing it early enough for delivery to preserve the intended message.
