Bluegrass Community and Technical College — BCTC Equine — Thoroughbred Training Center

BCTC Equine is based at the Thoroughbred Training Center, 3380 Paris Pike, and grew out of the North American Racing Academy. The specialized location is distinct from a general college campus: it connects students with horses, training operations and the practical routines of the racing industry. BCTC describes the academy as a community-college-based certificate program founded in 2006.

Students begin with equine-care and racing-industry coursework, then eligible participants may progress to racehorse riding skills during summer training. The pathway requires earlier courses in care, racing and training principles, plus a fitness and basic-riding assessment. After successful foundational courses, the college describes cooperative work experience with licensed trainers and preparation for Kentucky exercise-rider licensing.

The Equine site is a specialized instructional destination, not a place to visit without arranging a program appointment. Contact the program coordinator to verify class dates, entry requirements and access. BCTC Equine also connects coursework with breeding farms, trainers and other horse-industry partners, which gives this program a distinctive route into employment and internships.
