Part-time awards are prorated; the standard award does not cover enrollment below six credits.

Eligibility generally requires Wyoming residency, graduation from an eligible state high school or recognized pathway, and starting within four years of graduation; home-school graduates have an age-based deadline. The award level depends on Hathaway Success Curriculum courses, GPA, and ACT or SAT results. Test scores remain required even if college admissions use different rules. Provisional recipients must complete an associate degree at a community college before receiving the remaining benefit at UW.

Hathaway can run for up to eight full-time semesters or 96 credits, within six years after initiation. Renewal requires continuous fall-and-spring enrollment, satisfactory progress, and a GPA threshold by tier: 2.5 for Honors and Performance and 2.25 for Opportunity and Provisional, with rules for a temporary lower tier. Skipping a semester can interrupt aid unless an approved military or religious-service deferral is documented.

To estimate the real cost, ask the institution for a written breakdown of tuition, fees, housing, and expenses the award does not cover. Confirm renewal, academic-progress rules, and when funds are credited. Keep the award letter and application receipts.
