About Lake Charles Dental Assistant School
Dental Assistant Training in Lake Charles, Louisiana
Lake Charles Dental Assistant School is a training center specializing in preparing dental assistants. Its program is taught in real dental offices in Lake Charles and combines theoretical instruction with direct practice on the equipment and technologies used in the daily operations of a dental clinic. The school presents itself as a joint initiative between Zollege and local dental offices, so students learn in the same environment where they will later work.
The 12-Week Program
The training consists of a twelve-week course designed to prepare students to enter the job market as dental assistants. The admissions process is organized in four steps: learn about the program and speak with the admissions team, complete the application by choosing a start date and payment plan, pay the initial deposit to reserve a spot, and complete the program following the school's guidance. When classes begin, students receive a set of scrubs at no additional cost.
The school states that the program allows students to graduate without student loan debt and that tuition is affordable, with flexible payment options. Classes are held at times compatible with other commitments, and there are several start dates throughout the year.
Certifications Upon Completion
Those who complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion, a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification card issued by the American Heart Association, and a Radiology training certificate of approval.
Teaching Method and Instructor Profile
Classes take place in working dental offices and are taught by professionals with experience in dental practice. The school emphasizes that instructors know the daily operations of a clinic and translate theory into practical skills. The learning environment is equipped with the same tools and technology used in today's dental offices.
Career Support
The program includes career support focused on job searching, with resume review, interview tips, and guidance from job placement specialists. The school also offers the possibility for dental offices to hire its graduates.
Origin of the Project
Zollege was founded in 2010 as Vandelay Education by Dr. Thomas Ince, a dentist who couldn't find well-trained dental assistants to hire. Rather than wait for traditional programs to change, he created his own: shorter, taught hands-on in working dental offices, and structured to be paid for without a loan. His brother Ryan, a physician, faced the same problem in the healthcare field, and the two collaborated on a medical assistant program built with the same accelerated, in-office approach.
Admissions and Requirements
To enroll, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. The school has an admissions team to verify the eligibility of interested individuals and offers a contact form to request information, as well as a free course guide with details about the program, curriculum, career paths, and tuition.
