About Old Town Entertainment District
Old Town opened in 1986 as a retro-style shopping and entertainment walk: colourful façades, pedestrian streets and independent businesses evoke a small Florida town in the mid-twentieth century. The district covers 18 acres beside Highway 192, a short drive from Orlando’s theme parks, and brings together more than 70 shops, restaurants, bars, games and attractions. Its appeal is that visitors can wander outdoors and decide how much to spend: walking around and browsing is different from buying tickets for the rides.
The calendar varies by day, but Fridays and Saturdays often bring music and vehicle displays; the official website posts the weekly schedule, so check it before setting out. On Tripadvisor, many travellers describe the classic-car cruise as the highlight and mention unusual shops and places to eat. Others point out that rides, shopping and drinks are paid separately. Entry to the district is free, although that does not make every activity free.
Old Town is at 5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. The district is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; individual shops and attractions may keep their own hours. With children, take a walk first and then choose one activity to avoid impulse spending. Car enthusiasts can arrive on Saturday afternoon to find a place before the evening display; for a quieter, lower-cost outing, a weekday visit leaves more room to browse without the same crowds.
