About Caribbean Club

Caribbean Club, the oldest bar in the Upper Keys

The Caribbean Club is a historic bar and live music venue located in Key Largo, Florida. It opened its doors in 1938 and, since 1963, has been run by the Whitehurst family. The business itself presents itself as the oldest bar in the Upper Keys and one of the last relics of Old Key Largo. The establishment was the filming location of the famous movie Key Largo.

With Florida Bay as its backyard, the venue offers sunset views that, according to its own description, can't be beat. The business states it has won the "Best Sunset" award in the "Best of the Upper Keys Awards" presented by the weekly Keys Weekly three years in a row.

Live music and karaoke

The Caribbean Club's music lineup includes live performances Thursday through Sunday, plus a popular Karaoke Night on Wednesdays. The venue notes that it hosts both the best Florida Keys musicians and renowned touring artists. Concerts take place on a waterfront stage; if the weather doesn't cooperate, the music moves inside.

Drinks and dining

Among the drinks the bar offers, the Key Lime Pie Rum Punch stands out, which the house itself calls famous, along with locally crafted beers. The Caribbean Club serves as a gathering spot for both locals and visitors alike. On the food side, the venue hosts the Take Two Kitchen food truck, open Tuesday through Sunday.

Practical information

The bar's hours are 7:00 AM to 1:00 AM (approximately) daily. The establishment is cash only, though it has an ATM onsite. The Caribbean Club also has a boat ramp.
