About Power & Light District
Power & Light District: dining, entertainment, and urban life in downtown Kansas City
The Power & Light District is a mixed-use urban complex located in downtown Kansas City (Missouri). It brings together a wide range of restaurants, bars, live entertainment venues, event spaces, and luxury residences. The district was developed by The Cordish Companies, headquartered in Baltimore (Maryland), and designed by the firms Beyer Blinder Belle and 360 Architecture. Its name comes from the Kansas City Power and Light Building, an art deco skyscraper that has been a city landmark since 1931.
Construction of the district began in 2004. The first restaurant to open was McFadden's Sports Saloon, on November 7, 2007. In February 2008, several establishments opened on 14th Street, including Bristol Seafood Grill and Chipotle, followed by the official opening of Kansas City Live! and many of its venues.
Restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues
The district brings together a varied selection of dining and nightlife establishments. These include Palm Tree KC, with coastal-inspired cuisine; Shark Bar, a bar with a retro surf vibe and dance sessions; Ten27 Bar, a neighborhood bar located in the historic Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland; The Residence, a cocktail lounge; The Yard Milkshake Bar, specializing in desserts; Tropical Smoothie Cafe; Yard House, which combines beer and food; and Besos y Abrazos, PBR Big Sky, McFadden's Sports Saloon, No Other Pub, County Road Ice House, Mosaic Ultra Lounge, Guy Fieri's Dive and Taco Joint, and Pizza Bar, among others.
The KC Live! venue is presented as the heart of the district's entertainment offering, with live music, sports watch parties, and festivals. The Midland Theatre, meanwhile, hosts concerts, comedy shows, and special events.

The district regularly programs events such as free local concerts on the KC Live! stage, football and soccer watch parties, themed festivals, and family activities. The lineup includes events such as Oktoberfest Live!, PNC Family Fun Day, Soccer in the City: USA vs Mexico, the UFC 332 Watch Party at McFadden's Sports Saloon, and the Fall Tour of Homes: Live Brilliantly, among others.
