About Greater Kansas City Community Foundation Scholarships
The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation administers hundreds of scholarships for students in and around metropolitan Kansas City. It does not offer one award with identical rules for everyone: each fund may be limited by school, field, financial circumstances, county, or institution. The portal first matches students based on their information and may then require additional applications for individual funds.
As of October 13, 2026, the foundation says applications are closed and the portal for the 2027–28 award year will reopen in December 2026. Exact dates depend on the opportunities listed; December should not be turned into an invented deadline. Create an account with a personal email you can keep after graduation and check in advance which scholarships match your school and program.
The organization advises students to complete FAFSA before the general application and have an electronic copy of an unofficial high-school transcript ready. After answering the form, the system displays matching opportunities; students must finish recommended individual applications and track the separate deadlines shown in the portal. Completing only the general profile does not mean every scholarship application is complete.
Each fund description explains whether an award applies to tuition, fees, books, or other costs; many are paid directly to the institution. Check whether the college is eligible and whether a specific enrollment load is required. The foundation’s scholarship staff can help with the process, but a portal match alone does not guarantee an award.
Ask the financial-aid office for a written term-by-term estimate separating tuition, fees, housing, books, and other costs. Keep the award letter, records, and any service agreement. If your studies, residence, or course load change, contact the administrator before that decision affects your aid.
