About First Coast YMCA Youth Soccer

First Coast YMCA offers a lower-pressure route into organized soccer within an organization that already runs sports and wellness programs for the whole family. Starter Soccer introduces ages 5–7 in an eight-week, small-sided format: a 30-minute practice, a 20-minute game and a short character-building activity each week. For ages 7–14, the recreational league adds one practice and one game each week, with volunteer coaches and an emphasis on participation and sportsmanship. Shin guards are required; cleats are recommended, while tennis shoes are allowed.

The program is distributed across four Duval County branches: Brooks Family YMCA in the Southside, Johnson on the Northside, Williams in Mandarin and Winston in Riverside, where the YMCA lists indoor soccer. Soccer availability changes with the season and branch. As of October 30, 2026, Fall 2 includes Micro and Starter Soccer; the next full recreational soccer league is shown for March 31–May 24, 2027. The YMCA does not post one price for every branch and season. It says household members can receive up to 70 percent off eligible recreational leagues, while financial assistance and current registration amounts should be checked with the selected branch.

The Y is a multi-sport choice rather than a soccer-only academy. Across the association, youth offerings also include basketball, flag football, volleyball, gymnastics, dance, swimming, camps and Sports Zone for younger children. The Winston branch’s amenities include a gymnasium with basketball and volleyball courts, indoor track, pools and fitness facilities; those are branch services, not necessarily part of a soccer registration. Families should select the closest branch, verify that its current cycle includes soccer, and ask what membership or spectator registration is required before attending a game.
