About Ivy Tech Indianapolis — Conference Center and Culinary Institute

The Conference Center and Culinary Institute has an unusual public-facing role: students learn hospitality by preparing and serving guests in the same building where the public can reserve a meal or host an event. Courses Restaurant occupies the penthouse; the Courses Bakery and Café is on the first floor. Both operations follow the college calendar and class schedule, so opening days and menus change by term. The restaurant’s posted seasonal page gives service dates, a set-menu price and reservation instructions; check it before making the trip.

The academic side includes culinary arts, baking and pastry, hospitality administration, event management, hotel operations and related certificates. Ivy Tech lists associate degrees, technical certificates and short certificates, with different credit requirements and schedules. The building also offers flexible meeting and banquet rooms; the college advertises more than 12,000 square feet of public event space and says visitor parking is available in the lot beside the building and in the garage connected to the Learning Resource Center.

The address is 2820 N. Meridian Street, within the downtown campus district. It works for a student interested in practical kitchen training, but it is also one of the few teaching facilities where a visitor can see students learning service in real time. Check whether the bakery-café or restaurant is open that week; the semester schedule, not a conventional restaurant timetable, determines access.

In brief
