About Houston City College — Financial Aid Office

Houston City College’s Financial Aid office centralises guidance for students completing FAFSA or TASFA, responding to document requests, and understanding an aid offer. It does not itself award every federal or state programme, but it administers HCC files and is the right place to ask which forms are missing, which tuition is eligible, and how an institutional scholarship will be credited.

The Financial Aid Contact Center answers calls at 713-718-2000, option 3. Published phone hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Virtual Lobby has different hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campus service desks may keep separate hours, so check the page before travelling.

To protect personal information, HCC asks students to email finaid.district@hccs.edu from their HCC student account. Students without access should first ask Admissions or the general contact line how to proceed. In MyEagle, the Student Service Center displays the financial-aid checklist, while the Financial Aid tile shows award amounts and statuses. A submitted application is not necessarily complete; check for verification and outstanding documents.

New students should ask which FAFSA covers their enrollment period and whether someone unable to use FAFSA should submit TASFA for Texas state aid. Do not routinely submit both. The office can confirm which form it accepts, how it must be delivered, and whether a campus deadline differs from the state priority date. Ask how funds will be applied among tuition, fees, books, and any remaining balance.

The office works with grants, scholarships, student employment, and loans; distinguish aid that does not need to be repaid from a loan offer that creates debt. Before accepting a package, compare the cost of attendance with the actual balance. If credits, programme, residency, or financial circumstances change, contact the office to learn whether the calculation and eligibility will be reviewed.

The page also offers virtual routes to speak with staff and review requirements without going to campus. Eagle Promise explains the rules for its institutional scholarship; Financial Aid lists contact details, hours, and file checks. Have your student ID, FAFSA year, and portal messages ready, but never send passwords or bank details by email.
