American Job Center Hawaii — Oahu

On Oahu, the American Job Center brings public and local services together at one starting point for people looking for work. It is not a private placement agency: it offers job-search support, career planning, computer access and information about training at no cost. People who meet the requirements for certain programmes may qualify for more intensive guidance, skills assessments or training for in-demand occupations.

The centre is in the Dole Cannery Complex at 680 Iwilei Road, Suite 700, Honolulu, HI 96817. The direct phone number is 808-768-5701. The state directory does not set uniform in-person hours, so call before travelling and ask for an appointment if you need individual career guidance. To get started online, visit HireNet Hawaii, the state job portal: you can explore openings, create a profile and prepare a résumé there; some features require registration.

A visit is more useful if you bring a short list of jobs that interest you, your work history and specific questions about interviews, training or applications. Ask which services are open to everyone and which depend on programme requirements. To avoid fake offers, do not pay anyone who promises to guarantee a hire or give bank details to a supposed recruiter. Confirm each opening with the named employer and use the centre’s official phone numbers and websites.
