About Pauahi Foundation Postsecondary Scholarships

The Pauahi Foundation administers more than 250 funds for education after high school. Rather than one scholarship with uniform rules, its portal gathers awards with different purposes and criteria, which can vary by residency, academic level, field, financial need, ancestry, school, or background. A central application lets students identify funds for which they may qualify.

The 2027–28 application opened October 1 and is due December 1, 2026. Supplemental materials—which may include essays, recommendations, residency verification, financial records, or a portfolio—are due January 15, 2027. The foundation advises students to select relevant awards and review each fund’s document list; completing the general form does not mean every requirement is satisfied.

Applications are open to the general public, but foundation policy gives preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law. Hawaii residency is not a universal requirement: some funds require it while others accept applicants from elsewhere. Review each fund’s rules rather than assuming either eligibility or exclusion based on living outside the islands.

The application requests personal and academic information, scholarship selections, financial details where relevant, activities, and a personal statement. A recent transcript is a general item; recommendations and other files depend on the selected awards. Recipients may need to submit materials again each year, and some awards cannot be deferred. Keep the portal current and monitor messages and the status of each document.
