About Anna Ruby Falls Visitor Center & Recreation Area
Anna Ruby Falls Visitor Center & Recreation Area introduces the mountain forest through two adjacent waterfalls, formed by Curtis Creek and York Creek. FIND Outdoors operates the site in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. Although the approach passes through the Unicoi area, admission and operating rules are separate from the state park’s.
The principal waterfall trail is approximately 0.4 miles each way, paved and steep in places. It follows Smith Creek toward viewing decks, with benches along the route. The operator’s current FAQ explicitly says this trail is unsuitable for wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility-assistance devices. Pavement should therefore not be mistaken for a level, universally accessible walk.
The Lion’s Eye Trail provides a shorter alternative near the visitor center, with a cable handrail and braille interpretation. Staff can advise on current access conditions. The center includes a gift shop, restrooms and visitor information; picnic areas allow a meal brought from elsewhere because there is no restaurant on site.
Current published hours are 9 a.m.–6 p.m., with the final admission sale at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are closures. Weather or maintenance can affect trails.
