About New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA)

HESAA is the public authority that manages New Jersey higher-education financial aid. Its programs include TAG and other state grants and scholarships; NJFAMS centralizes applications, verification, and notices. The agency publishes deadlines, while each college aid office verifies enrollment and certifies parts of an individual file.

HESAA asks new applicants to create a NJFAMS account and check their personalized To Do list. It may show verification documents, corrections, reevaluations, or a school selection task. Applicants must respond by each notice date; HESAA says deadlines are not extended for partial or incomplete information.

Customer Care is 800-792-8670, with English and Spanish support. Published hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. TAG and scholarship questions can also be sent through the site; keep your NJFAMS ID handy and avoid sending sensitive information through unsecured email.
