About Hendrickson's Fine Jewelry
Family jewelry store in Garden City since 1985
Hendrickson's Fine Jewelry is an independent family jewelry store with its own workshop located in Garden City, Idaho. The business has served customers in Boise, Meridian, and the entire Treasure Valley since 1985 and presents itself as a business owned and operated by the family itself. Its activity combines custom piece design with jewelry repair carried out entirely in its own facilities.
Custom design and in-house repair
Custom jewelry design is one of the core lines of the business: the company creates unique pieces tailored to each customer's vision and style. Repair is the other standout specialty, with the particularity that all work is performed in its own workshop, without the need to send items to third parties. According to the company's information, the workshop has four goldsmiths with more than 130 years of combined experience, which also allows ring and other piece sizing to be adjusted at the time of purchase.
Repair work is done in view of the public through the workshop windows. The company works mainly with yellow, white, and rose gold, as well as platinum, and has two laser machines that allow it to repair platinum pieces that a jeweler with a conventional torch could not handle. It also works with sterling silver, although it warns that it cannot always repair it due to the relationship between the strength and brittleness of this metal.
Repair timelines and process
The usual turnaround time indicated for repairs is approximately two weeks from drop-off, due to the daily volume of work received. Before repairing, the company performs a deep clean to prevent stains or damage and verifies the final result. There is the possibility of expediting the turnaround with a rush fee, although even in that case the minimum time indicated is 48 hours, varying depending on the type of repair.
Inspection, cleaning, and estate jewelry
Any member of the team is qualified to inspect and clean jewelry, a service the company does not charge for. It recommends bringing pieces in at least twice a year, in April and October, for inspection and cleaning. For old, broken, or no-longer-worn jewelry, the company offers several alternatives: examining them for possible sale in its estate jewelry section, reusing the gold and stones in a new custom piece — which adds sentimental value by preserving materials from the original piece — or buying the gold, even from broken pieces, or exchanging it for a new piece.
