About Santa Fe College — Kirkpatrick Center / Institute of Public Safety
The George G. Kirkpatrick Center is the specialized home of Santa Fe College’s Institute of Public Safety, on a 160-acre site in northeast Gainesville near the regional airport. Its role differs from the main campus: it is built around hands-on preparation for public-safety work, with simulation-based training and academies for people pursuing law-enforcement, corrections, emergency medical technician and paramedic credentials.
The college also lists associate-level study in criminal justice and Emergency Medical Services, continuing education for sworn law-enforcement and corrections personnel, and training connected to recruit academies. Criminal Justice Technology courses are taught at Northwest and online rather than being assumed to take place at Kirkpatrick. Applicants should contact the Institute’s advisers about program-specific selection, physical requirements, testing and the current academy calendar.
This site is a dedicated training facility rather than a general walk-in student-services hub. The college’s locations directory notes that some administrative services, including financial-aid and transcript support, are limited on site at Kirkpatrick; staff can direct students to another office. Parking at college locations is free for students without a decal, but academy visitors should follow the instructions for their scheduled course or appointment.
