About Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging — Fresno County
Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) coordinates Older Americans Act programs for older adults and people with disabilities in Fresno and Madera Counties. Its office is at 2520 West Shaw Lane, Suite 101A; the information line is 559-214-0299 and the toll-free number is 800-510-2020. The agency offers referrals, congregate nutrition, home-delivered meals, Linkages, MSSP, and caregiver support.
Home-delivered meals are intended for people age 60 and older who are homebound because of illness, incapacity, or disability and lack sufficient family support. A call lets staff review the situation and confirm whether the household qualifies. FMAAA says eligible applicants may be placed on a waiting list and contacted when space opens. It also lists free congregate meal sites across both counties.
Linkages care management serves adults age 60 and older in Fresno or Madera who need coordination and can remain in the community with support. MSSP serves adults 60 and older with Medi-Cal, frail health, and risk of nursing-home placement. In both programs, staff assess needs and resources before coordinating services; neither is an immediate benefit automatically available to every caller.
For family caregivers, WeCare offers short videos and readings, reminders, and text or phone access to care navigators. It is available in English and Spanish and has no enrollment charge. Join by texting WECARE to 43386 or using the agency’s online form; enrollment questions go to 559-493-1557. It does not replace clinical assessment or individualized respite care.
When calling, say whether the request is for Fresno or Madera County and whether the need is meals, care coordination, or family training. Ask about requirements, paperwork, wait times, and which provider will deliver the service. The Shaw Lane address is the administrative office; meals and in-home services take place at other sites or residences.
