About Fresno City College — Main Campus

At 1101 East University Avenue, just east of the Tower District, the campus brings together buildings from different periods, classrooms, a library, academic services and spaces for student activities. Fresno City College opened in 1910 as Fresno Junior College with twenty students and three instructors; its century-long history is visible in the Old Administration Building and its growth into many fields. It belongs to the State Center Community College District but has its own admissions process, calendar, advising and catalog.

The college offers university-transfer coursework, associate degrees and certificates in areas including health, business, education, arts, sciences, public service and trades. An associate degree generally requires at least 60 units; two years is a planning benchmark for someone taking about 15 units each semester and following the sequence without interruption, not a promise for every program. Advisers help build an education plan and distinguish each major’s requirements. New students start with the state CCCApply application and then complete orientation, academic placement and registration steps that apply to them.

California residents are charged a published $46 enrollment fee per unit; 12 units come to $552 before health fees, materials and books. Clovis Community College’s 2026–27 catalog lists a further $342 per unit for nonresidents beginning in fall 2026, or $388 total with the state enrollment fee. Eligible California residents may qualify for the California College Promise Grant fee waiver; FAFSA or CADAA can also determine eligibility for other aid. Fresno’s city bus network serves the campus area. Drivers should check district parking information: permits are required at district campuses, with daily and semester options listed. Confirm the classroom building and office hours before traveling because services and courses do not all follow the same schedule.
